Been a rough first go at it with a 6.0 or even just a diesel in general. Just wanted to know for sure that by welding both ends of my EGR cooler, reinstalling it, and keeping the EGR valve still on, that I won't risk any damage of either overheating or damaging anything (turbo, motor, intake, etc) Reponses are greatly appreciated! I'm really happy I joined this forum. Everywhere I've researched says otherwise and just mentioned the CEL being triggered. My only concern now is that my regular mechanic was really getting my brain juices pumping when he mentioned that deleting the EGR (welded both ends) that I do require a tune or I risk serious damage. I'm going to be heading to a diesel mechanic today to see if they can get that in properly which will hopefully have it running without that arrogant air hissing. Still hear a loud air leak noise which I believe is that stupid y pipe again. Reinstalled it and connected everything back together and I started getting about 8psi max when driving. I removed the turbo and cleaned it entirely. It's been nice having yall be extremely kind and helpful with these issues I'm having with my 6.0. Then I'll bust out the aggressive tow. Before I write my update I just wanna say thank you in advance to everyone who's responded to my post. I'll probably tow alot on looney, except the 5th wheel. Lawdy I should have been running that the whole time.egts were higher than the tow tune obviously, but she didn't downshift once, made good power and averaged 14mpg. Tow/haul mode helped a little with the shifting but not much. Although, the tune is set up for 12,000lbs +. Truck downshifted on many a hill (yes there were alot) although everything else (egt's, engine temp, trans, etc) was fine. Waaayyyy to much of a tow tune for that little load. Trip there I ran my aggressive tow tune from Vivian. I'm gonna get back with Vivian and adjust a few things I rekon.įrom what I gather it seems like the SRL++ would be better from a 40~mph roll due to the earlier shifting vs the looney wild.Īs for towing, I pulled a double axle toy hauler with 3 motorcycles to Sturgis, SD. I feel the same on the looney wild, shifts are a little soft for me, but out of the gate she screams. Well shoot! With all those tunes I'd have been dumb not to ask for your input! Lol. Thought this might help some of you guys out when choosing your next Custom Tune for your 6.0. Best customer service out there no doubt. All I can say it hats off to Vivian Quick Tricks and her Looney Tune. I will also compare MPG to what I had hand calculated stock with my driving habits. I've never had it dynoed stock so I can't give any power gains. My 5" straight pipe never sounded so good. Shifts were perfect and right at 4,000rpm. My 34" BFGs were trying desperately to grab the pavement. Right as the turbo spooled up the smoke went to a light haze and man did it haul a$$. I punched it from a dead stop and a big cloud of smoke poured out of my 6" RBP stainless tip. When it was time to get on it she didn't disappoint. Transmission shifted crisp and at the perfect times. Just driving easy I had better response and noticeably more low end power and less lag. Instantly I could tell a night and day difference. Let it warm up for 5 mins and cruised until I hit operating temperature. Cranked right up cold with no problems and no smoke. When I got home I loaded the tune to my tuner and put it on my truck. I worked that night from 4-11 and had complete communicate with her via email over my iPhone. Emailed Vivian with all my trucks info, tuner serial number, and strategy, told her what I was looking for, sent her an $50 E-Check via PayPal, and I had my custom Looney tune that night at 6:00. I bought my SCT X3 tuner from a member on here and received it yesterday around 2:00. Something that would give me more power, but also better MPGs and crisper shifts. I was looking for something that I could use as a daily driver to work and school. From Eric Innovative and Matt's SRL I decided to go with Vivian's Looney, formally known as DJ's Looney. I have been reading thread after thread on here and other forums. I have wanted a tune for my 2006 F250 for some time.
